Welcome to Stisted Parish Church.

All Saints ChurchAll Saints is an Anglican church in the benefice of Cressing and Stisted with Pattiswick and Bradwell and the diocese of Chelmsford.

The first stone church was built here almost exactly 800 years ago and we are taking great care to preserve the fabric of this beautiful historic building.

However, a church is much more than a building - the word really describes the group of people who meet within it, and the purpose of their meeting.

Most of us here share a common belief in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour - some of us are simply trying to find out more about life's truths!

If you would like to know more or to talk with the Rector or Churchwarden about any matter they will be pleased to hear from you.

Parish Notices

Church Funding is critical - it costs approximately £480 a week to run All Saints.

calendar 2009 calendar of events

All Saints Church will now be open weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00 - please feel free to come inside and admire this beautiful medieval building or take some time out for quiet reflection. Plans are progressing for opening the church at weekends too (though we are open on Sunday mornings!!!!!)

Sunday School - Sunday School runs every Sunday EXCEPT the 2nd Sunday from 10:30 at All Saints Church. All are welcome.

Car ParkA New Car Park for the Church - The PCC would like to thank Roy Barnes and Tony for transforming the church walk and for making an excellent car parking area for Fairways Nursery and church Traffic. Thanks to Andrew Long for his support in helping with this project and to the parishioners for sweeping the leaves each week. We would now like to plant lots of Spring bulbs along the bank along Church Walk and would appreciate any kind of donations which can be left at Hall farm, fairways Nursery or in the Church Porch.Jane Bailey

Churchyard Gardening - Well done to the Churchyard Gardening team and many thanks to Bill and Sylvia Rowe for co-ordinating the work carried out. The grass and weeds have just thrived in all the wet conditions we have had and the moles love the soft soil at the moment. (100 mole hills at the last count). It has been relentless all through the Spring, Summer and Autumn months. Thank you!
p.s. Sylvia's cakes are just fantastic and coffee breaks are always jolly. Do come and join in the team. We can find light duties or more challenging jobs to suit everyone, so don't be shy! Jane Bailey

From the archives - Flower Festival - September 23rd-25th, 2006; see some images of the legendary weekend.

Appeal - Church Funding is critical - it costs approximately £480 a week ro run All Saints - the Rector and Churchwardens would like to thank all those in the Parish who have responded so generously to appeals for funds. We have received some fantastic donations and many pledges of regular giving. Stisted Village church is just over 800 years old and it may seem impossible to imagine that it might one day close, be converted for another use, or sold off...

The cost of keeping this medieval building open is now around £24,000 per annum - excluding restoration and repairs. These costs have to be met entirely from our own village funds. Please consider whether it is important for you to maintain an active Church in Stisted - even if you do not attend regularly, you may enjoy our Christmas Carol and other occasional services and of course you may wish to be buried there or have your children married in the church!

Bankers draft forms are available from the Secretary of the PCC or the Churchwarden or online. Most people contribute between £10 and £20 per month - overall less than the cost of your daily newspaper.

Church Donations - to make the most tax-efficient use of your offering, please either:

  • use a yellow envelope - a supply is available from one of the Churchwardens or can be found in the Church pews
  • fill out one of the confidential standing order forms (available online, from one of the Churchwardens or via the Church notice board in the South Aisle).

Thank you!
